Outlook 12 is very, very good.  Yay!

Brandon Such a random comment. I'm on the Beta 2 build now, it is a pretty good application. It is suffering from performance issues though I think.
Leila what about viruses?
Leila PS-How can a hardcore programmer like you use Frontpage??!
Eric Perf needs some work, true. Leila, what about them? As for using FrontPage-- it's a syntax-highlighting text editor. What else would I use?
Leila You can easily get them when using Outlook because so many people use it? I was wondering if they updated it to include some protection. I guess it makes sense to use frontpage just for the syntax highlighting... but what a large program to load for that purpose? And that really isn't the purpose of Frontpage, right? I use EditPad on Windows and emacs on linux.
Eric On a machine with 2gigs of RAM, the load of Frontpage isn't really measurable. But the real value comes from the integration with FrontPage Server Extensions. EditPadPro the new FTP Folder panel is nice, but it's just not the same. As for Outlook viruses, if you don't open attachments, there's no problem. And frankly, Outlook makes it much harder to open potentially malicious attachments than virtually any other program.
Leila oh i didn't know there was an ftp folder panel thing. i was using putty to scp. i got a virus from outlook 5 years ago when i used to use it.. it had this thing where it automatically loaded the most recent message without asking. my virus protection program found it but it was annoying. and it kept downloading multiple copies of the emails. i know it's crazy but i still use pine.. i can see how it's not useful for people who need to markup their emails but i can't get a virus :) other people who have switched from outlook tell me to use eudora?
andrewb HTML-KIT is a great syntax highlighting editor. And its free, and super stable.
Dave vim is the b3st!!1! (Also does syntax highlighting)
andrewb see, Dave is a Real Dev.
